This 4-week beginner pottery class introduces students to the fundamentals of handbuilding and surface design in clay. Students will explore essential ceramic techniques while creating functional and decorative pieces in a supportive studio environment. No prior experience is necessary.
Wednesdays - 6 pm - 7:30 pm
Week 1 - We will focus on slab building methods to construct simple forms and textures. (June 3)
Week 2 - We will learn pinch and coil techniques to create sculptural and functional pottery. (June 10)
Break - June 17
Week 3 - We will combine skills to design and build a personalized mug and dish set. (June 24)
Week 4 - You will complete your work through sanding, painting and glazing, learning how color and surface treatments enhance finished ceramic pieces. (June 31)
Notes: 18 + students welcome. Class will run with 4 people min and 6 max. ALL materials included. Fired pieces will be available for pick up one-week after last class.
